                      > CALL FOR ABSTRACTS <

   ==============================================================

Abstracts are solicited for contributed papers for the astronomical
calibration conference which will be held from February 5 to 9, 2001 at
the Data Centre of the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) in Villafranca
del Castillo (VilSpa), near Madrid, Spain.

The deadline for abstract submission is November 24, 2000.

The programme of the conference reflects the wide range of astronomical
and instrumental calibration issues which have been tackled during the
history of the ISO project to-date. A key goal of the conference is to
maximise the propagation of practical experience and insight from ISO
to future missions.

Topics for the meeting range through :==>

. actual techniques developed, and problems encountered, in the
pre-launch and in-flight calibration of the ISO instruments

. instrument commanding and calibration scheduling strategies

. the establishment of major databases of reference astronomical
    calibration sources

. problems achieving good optical design

. problems characteristic of (space-borne) IR detectors

. problems inherent in the space environment

. cross-calibration of ISO data with data from a range of other
    astronomical facilities

. data reduction - automatic and interactive.

. lessons learned relevant to the design of future missions.

[Contributions addressing the relevance of the ISO experience to
calibration of major ground-based systems are also welcome.]
