GBPP Stars

Below you can find the list of stars originally included in the ISO Ground Based Preparatory Programme. Note that flux densities quoted are predictions. Look at the IRAS Point Source Catalogue for accurate values.

GBPP Photometry

The tables below contain both Northern data from La Palma and Teide observatories (P. Hammersley) and Southern data from ESO-La Silla (N. van der Bliek, J. Manfroid and P. Bouchet).

Caution: Some of these stars have been found to be slightly variable or multiple by Hipparchos; see list of possible problem stars for further details.

Near IR data sets

There are 4 files containing the near IR data compiled as part of the ISO Ground Based Preparatory Programme. For each filter you will find (1) the magnitude of the star, (2) the stated error in the magnitude, and (3) the number of measurements.

The ESO NIR broad band data (delivered by N. v.d. Bliek 22-Feb-96); obtained with the ESO: J | H | K | L | M filters. See also explanatory note.

The ESO NIR narrow band data (delivered by N. v.d. Bliek 22-Feb-96); at 5 CVF positions with a spectral resolution of about 2%. See also explanatory note.The wavelengths are:

Selby narrowband data: an amalgamation of the work published in Selby et al (1988) with work done more recently but using the same filter profiles; the filters used are Jn (1.244 mic) | Kn (2.202 mic) | Ln (3.796 mic).
TCS broadband data: this is a re-reduction of the entire TCS archive and the new observations taken for this work. The data was reduced in one go using a matrix approach. The filters given are J | H | K.

The colour error files contain the difference between the measured colours and the predicted colours for the stars in the sample, according to their assumed effective temperature. Everything is based on empirical fits. The size of the error across the various colours give a good indication as to how 'good' the stars are for calibration purposes.

ESO and IRTF Bolometry

ESO bolometry, both broad and narrow band data [delivered 22.02.96 by N. van der Bliek]. The filters are: N | N1 | N2 | N3 | Q0. See explanatory note for more details.
IRTF bolometry obtained by M. Jourdain de Muizon and M.F. Kessler during a 4-night run in Feb/Mar 1992. The data were reduced by P. Bouchet and recalibrated by P. Hammersley as explained in detail in the explanatory notes. Also available are (a) a table of target stars and a table containing the original calibration by P. Bouchet.

BS-info: Information on the GBPP stars from the Bright Star Catalogue
HIC-info: Information on the GBPP stars from the Hipparcos Input Catalogue (HIC).
IRAS-PSC Info: Information on the GBPP stars from the IRAS Point Source Catalogue.
Missing-HIC: A list of stars on which there are IR measurements but do not appear in the Hipparcos Input Catalogue (HIC).
Metallicities and log g: This file lists metallicities [Fe/H] and log g for the stars in the file HIC-info that are included in "A catalogue of [Fe/H] determinations - 1991 edition" (Cayrel de Strobel et al. 1992).
