Dear ISO Observer, The ISO Data Centre intends to hold a workshop on ISO polarisation observations at ESA's satellite tracking station near Madrid (Spain) in May 1999. Our objective for this workshop is to support the finalisation of data reduction and analysis of individual observing programmes. This should be considered in the light of the fact that ISO polarisation observations will be public this Spring. The workshop would bring together the ISO observers working on polarisation programmes with experts in instrument calibration and data reduction. An exchange is foreseen on latest calibration updates, on advanced data processing techniques, and also on the latest results of polarisation studies. The ISO Data Centre offers facilities and support from the staff to reduce and fine tune polarisation data during the workshop. Within the general scope of the workshop we will customise topics and programme according to your needs. Below you will find more information on the scope and timeline of the workshop. With this letter we solicit feedback from you. We ask you to return the form at the bottom of this email, even if you are not coming to the workshop. Please send your reply to: helpdesk@iso.vilspa.esa.es by 19 March 1999. -------------------------------------------- This announcement is sent to all principal investigators of ISO polarisation programmes. Please pass it on to coworkers or other colleagues who may be interested. Looking forward to your reply, with kind regards, Rene Laureijs and Ralf Siebenmorgen ISO Data Centre, Vilspa =============================================================================== Details about the Polarisation Workshop Time and Location ----------------- The workshop will be held in the ISO Data Centre in Villafranca del Castillo, Spain in the period May 25-28, 1999. Since we plan to include also data reduction sessions using our computer facilities the number of participants would have to be limited to a maximum of 15 people. Scope ----- During the 4-day workshop we will offer general overviews of the ISO polarisation observations, presentations on the instrument calibration of ISOPHOT and ISOCAM, data reduction software PIA and CIA and special data reduction techniques. After short voluntary presentations of the participants programmes, including goal and related topics, e.g. other observations, we plan dedicated "hands-on" sessions supported by data reduction experts in the afternoons. There will be ample time to discuss the outcome of these sessions. Proceedings will be published on the ISO WWW and in paper form via the IDC preprint series. We plan to customise the sessions as far as possible to the needs of the participants, thus the detailed agenda will depend on your feedback.
